Digital Rights Management (DRM)
Track & Protect Digital Media
What is DRM? Digital Rights Management (DRM) tracks, protects and controls digital media. In its simplest terms, DRM is a system that encrypts digital media content and limits access to those who have acquired a proper license to play the content. With Digital Rights Management (DRM) you can easily and transparently protect your media assets while keeping your customers happy and your content moving!
How It Works
EC Suite’s DRM solution, DRM Networks, can track and protect your content by allowing you to package your digital files for distribution with an encrypted key, which is required to unlock your file. DRM Networks’ system, which can be integrated with EC Suite’s Digital Storefront and payment processing services, sells and silently distributes the license that contains this key directly to your online customer. The license, which is distributed separately from your content file, enables you to set sophisticated retail rules that determine how the packaged file can be played by your customer. When the license has been received by your customer, they can watch or listen to the file based on the rules that you choose as the content owner.
Device Management
Within your EC Suite account admin, DRM Networks utilizes the full feature set of Windows Media® 10.1, which includes automated device management for more than 300 Plays for Sure® products from over 60 manufacturers. With these features in place, content owners can set controls that allow digital content to be transferred or shared on portable devices. By authenticating users' rights for content, consumers can enjoy greater flexibility when using rich media content. These rights can be set up as a subscription-based model or controlled by time, play count or delayed licensing, which allows users access to content within a rental period during a pre-determined time-frame.
License Restoration
Content owners can boost Customer retention by restoring groups of licenses for consumers who have lost their licenses or have moved their purchased content to a new computer by using our latest License Restoration feature.
Compatibility Testing Tool (CT Tool)
DRM Networks is the only DRM provider to offer your consumer the exclusive CT Tool. Our Compatibility Testing Tool was created as an easy-to-use mechanism that evaluates the DRM compatibility of your end user's computer system. This same CT Tool provides your consumer with a helpful Systems Report, which includes information for resolving problems, plus quick and reliable assistance from 24/7 DRM Networks’ Consumer Support desk.
